Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 12/06/2026

MOT Compare (CARMOTIQ) is operated by DevBoostPlugins, a trading name of Switchview Design Limited.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MOT Compare service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Commercial rights and operator

The MOT Compare service is made available to you by DevBoostPlugins, a trading name of Switchview Design Limited. The underlying CARMOTIQ software platform is provided under licence from Switchview Design for commercial operation. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of underlying software or data sources to you; your rights are limited to use of the service as described here.

3. Description of Service

MOT Compare provides aggregated MOT test data, comparisons, and analytics at make and model level to help you make informed purchase decisions. Data is sourced from official UK MOT records and presented for informational purposes only. The service does not provide registration-based vehicle history checks.

4. Limitation of Liability

The service and data are provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose. We do not guarantee that the data reflects the current condition of any vehicle. You use the service at your own risk. Our liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding any claim.

5. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the data.

6. Prepaid credits and expiry

When you buy a one-time credit pack or receive search credits as part of a subscription, you are purchasing a prepaid entitlement to run a limited number of make/model reports and related tools on the platform. Credits are not a perpetual licence and do not roll indefinitely unless we say so on the product page.

  • Each distinct grant of credits (for example each completed one-time purchase, or each billing period in which credits are issued under a subscription) has its own validity. You must use the credits from that grant within 30 calendar days of the date that grant is recorded on your account (normally when payment completes and we confirm the transaction).
  • After that period, any unused credits from that grant expire and are forfeited. Expired credits have no cash value, are not transferable, and are not refundable except where mandatory applicable consumer law requires a different outcome.
  • We may show expiry dates, countdowns, or reminders in the product (for example in the site header or on account pages). Those displays are for your convenience; if anything appears inconsistent with these Terms, these Terms and the checkout information at the time of purchase take priority.
  • Credits are normally tied to your browser session via technical identifiers and, where you provide it, the email address used at checkout. If you lose access, we may offer a "recover credits" flow so you can reattach entitlements to a new session. Recovery does not extend an expiry date that has already passed for a given grant.

7. Payment and Refunds

Payment terms for subscriptions and single purchases are governed by our payment provider (Paddle). Refund requests will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer rights and our refund policy. Paying for credits does not guarantee that unused credits can be used after the expiry period in section 6.
